DGS-AVG Technique for Defect Sizing
The DGS-AVG technique (Distance Gain Size – Abstand Verstärkung Größe) is one of the most widespread methods for sizing defects detected by ultrasound in welds. It rests on theoretical curves that relate the echo distance, the instrument gain and the equivalent size of a flat reflector.
In this section we bring together articles explaining how to use DGS-AVG with Dakota flaw detectors and how it fits into inspection procedures to AWS D1.1 and other industry codes.
