On plant in service the paint does not come off. Removing it means opening a work permit, restoring the coating after the measurement and, often, creating the very point from which corrosion will start again. That is why the first question customers ask is not how accurate the instrument is, but whether it can measure without damaging the protection.
The CMX1-DL answers with six modes covering every possible combination: bare metal, metal through the coating, metal with temperature compensation, and even the coating thickness alone. It recognises the connected probe, zeroes itself and compensates for thermal drift without operator intervention: three fewer steps to get wrong at every change of point.

Need help choosing the right product?
There is only one difference from the higher models in the series, but it needs to be known: the CMX1-DL does not display the A-Scan. It shows the figure, the B-Scan and the repeatability bar, but not the waveform. Anyone who has to validate a doubtful measurement visually should look at the CMX2-DL.

Coating Only mode measures the coating thickness alone from 0.0127 to 2.54 mm: useful when the protection itself is subject to contractual verification.
Compatible probes

Frequently asked questions
No. This is the main difference from the CMX2-DL and CMX3-DL. The CMX1-DL displays the large digits, the cross-sectional B-Scan and the repeatability bar, but not the A-Scan waveform.
Yes. It is PECT mode, which returns both the metal thickness (0,63 – 1219,2 mm) and the coating thickness (0,01 – 2,54 mm) in the same reading. There is also a Coating Only mode for the coating alone.
The internal memory is 4 GB, with logs in alphanumeric grid or sequential format with automatic identifier. It is also possible to capture the screen in bitmap format to document a particular reading.
The speed of sound in metal varies with temperature: on hot plant, without correction, the reading is distorted. The CMX1-DL’s PETP mode compensates for this drift automatically, returning the true thickness.
Yes. The manufacturer indicates the CMX1-DL as the replacement for the CMX DL and CG100BDL models.
