For an inspection company the instrument is a means of production: what you sell to the client is not the measurement but the report. You need instruments that work together, a single data flow and calibration that is always in date.
- ✓ A single software, DakMaster™, for thickness gauges and flaw detectors
- ✓ Setup files shareable between instruments and operators
- ✓ Grid files and batching for coded, repeatable inspections
- ✓ Reports with statistics and charts generated by the software
- ✓ Periodic calibration handled by RODER, in Italy
- ✓ A single point of contact for supply, spare parts and service
Those who carry out inspections for a living have different needs from those who check their own plant. Time spent in the field is billed time, and every minute lost reconfiguring an instrument, retyping readings or chasing an expired calibration certificate is margin that disappears. The instrument fleet must therefore be assessed as a system, not as a sum of separate purchases.
The internal consistency of the range is what makes this possible: different instruments sharing the same setup logic, the same setup files and the same data-download software mean shorter training, single procedures and interchangeable teams. A technician who can use one model can use the others in the family too, and a report produced on one site is identical to one produced on another.

The second theme is how the data holds up over time. An inspection challenged years later is defended with traceability: which instrument, with which calibration in date, on which coded point, with which qualified operator. The pages that follow deal with the three aspects separately.
The application cases in the sector
| Application case | What it involves |
|---|---|
| Equipping an inspection company | Composing the instrument fleet as a coherent system |
| Coded inspections and traceability of the data | Coded points, grid files and the metrological chain |
| Reporting to the client | From raw data to the report to be delivered to the client |
Composing a fleet: the three-tier logic

A team does not need the top of the range for every operator: it needs the right instrument for each level of work.
- Line instruments: routine surveys, one per operator, rugged and simple
- Reference instruments: A-Scan and six modes, for doubtful cases and expert reports
- Specialist instruments: precision, high penetration, bolt tension, flaw detection
- A single software downstream, so that all the data comes together in the same format
For a multi-instrument supply we assess the composition together: write to us describing the sectors you work in.

Frequently asked questions
In practice yes, for operational reasons even before commercial ones: instruments in the same family share the setup logic, the setup files and the data-download software. This shortens training, makes teams interchangeable and ensures that reports produced on different sites have the same format.
Yes, on the models that support custom setups: DakView 4 allows the configuration files to be created and loaded onto the instrument. It is the way to ensure that all operators work with the same parameters, without relying on manual reconfiguration in the field.
Calibration must be scheduled according to the interval set by your quality system and by the applicable sector standards, staggering the shipments so as not to be left without working instruments. RODER SRL performs the service in its own laboratory in Italy for most models, with a NIST-traceable certificate, and at the manufacturer for the specialist ones.
DakMaster™ imports the readings from the instrument via Bluetooth or USB, organises them by project, analyses them with statistics and charts and generates the document to be delivered to the client. The structure and contents of the report remain defined by your procedure and by the client’s requirements.
For a multiple supply or for scheduled management of the calibration of your instrument fleet, write to us: we will assess together the composition best suited to the sectors you work in.
